Gram Panchayat Administrative System and Officials: 

A Brief Overview

Gram Panchayats are the fundamental units of the decentralized governance system in Kerala. To ensure the smooth functioning of a Panchayat, the administrative council  comprising elected representatives  works in tandem with officials from various departments.

1. Structure of the Governing Body (Administrative Structure)

Elected representatives are responsible for policy formulation and decision-making in the Panchayat. Its structure is as follows:

• Panchayat Governing Body: The principal committee comprising the elected ward members and the President.
• Steering Committee (Core Committee): This is the primary committee that coordinates the activities of the governing body.

• Standing Committees: There are four main committees for various development activities:

   

  1. Finance Standing Committee: Handles financial matters.
  2. Development Standing Committee: Spearheads infrastructure development.
  3. Welfare Standing Committee: Implements social welfare schemes.
  4. Health and Education Standing Committee: Focuses on health, sanitation, and education.

ജനങ്ങളുടെ ദൈനംദിന ജീവിതവുമായി നേരിട്ട് ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളാണ് ഈ സംവിധാനങ്ങളിലൂടെ നടപ്പിലാക്കുന്നത്. ഭരണസമിതിയുടെ തീരുമാനങ്ങൾ കൃത്യമായ രീതിയിൽ നടപ്പിലാക്കാൻ വിവിധ വകുപ്പുകളിലെ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥർ  ഏകോപനത്തിൽ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നു. ഗ്രാമങ്ങളുടെ സമഗ്ര പുരോഗതി ഉറപ്പാക്കാൻ ഈ ഭരണ-ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥ ഏകോപനം അത്യന്താപേക്ഷിതമാണ്.
